Tri-Star 1, EI-CNN was photographed lined up for takeoff from Dublin’s runway
28. Aer Turas also had two Douglas DC-8 freighters on fleet at the time.
Ryanair’s, 130 seat, 1983 vintage ex. Lufthansa, Boeing
737-230, EI-CNX was painted as a logojet for ‘Tipperary Crystal’ and was
photographed about to depart off Dublin’s runway 28. Notice the Lufthansa
Airbus A300 parked at pier B.
Summerhill’s Volvo Olympian RV 385 (97-D-385) about to
set off on a ‘Private Hire’ from ‘Our Lady Help of Christians Church’, Navan
Road on a day trip organised by Sister Veronica with members of the Navan Road
Active Age Group. This trip and many trips like it in other Dublin parishes were/are
made possible as part of ‘The Dublin Bus Community Support Programme’.
Summerhill received the batch RV 354 (97-D-354) to RV 389 (97-D-389), all in
Cityswift livery.
Phibsboro’s wedding liveried Volvo Olympians, RV 538
(99-D-538), RV 411 (98-D-20411) and
RV 410 (98-D-20410) parked in the garage. With the
delivery of RV 410 & RV 411 during 1998, Phibsboro’s wedding liveried RH 3
and RH 39 were painted into the then new cream/blue fleet livery.

Donnybrook’s Leyland
Olympian, RH 85 (91-D-1085) in recently applied ‘7Up’ AOA including all
passenger window areas whereas Phibsboro’s Leyland Olympian RH 116 (91-D-10116)
‘7Up’ AOA livery retained advert free passenger windows.
Donnybrook’s RA 190
(94-D-190) in newly applied ‘Heinz Weight Watchers’ AOA livery. On the 14th
February 2000, RA 190 was accidentally de-roofed at the harbour bridge in Bray,
Co. Wicklow. As a result of the mishap, Donnybrook’s RA 192 (94-D-192) was
speedily prepared as a replacement ‘Weight Watchers’ AOA
while RA 190 went off to the repair shop.

Flyer’ branding and was the first RV with a factory fitted front electronic
destination display unit.

Donnybrook Garage drawn from the batch RV 550 – RV 569. Notice the small front
destination units fitted to some of the RVs, these were later retrofitted with
the larger destination units.
London Buses loaned
brand new DAF, DB250LF, ALX400 (DLA124 and DLA 125) as demonstrators to Dublin
Bus during the summer of 1999 and one of them is seen here parked in Phibsboro
Garage. For the duration of the evaluation they were fleet allocated DA 1
(99-D-53440) and DA 2 (99-D-53451).

Ryanair’s very first
brand new 189 seat, Boeing 737-8AS, EI-CSA, lines up on Dublin’s runway 28, a
total of five new build 737s were delivered to the airline between March and
September 1999, EI-CSA to EI-CSE.

An Post issued a first
day cover (FDC) in March 1999 commemorating aspects of Ireland’s Maritime
Heritage featuring individual stamps for ‘Polly Woodside’, ‘Ilen’, ‘RNLI’,
‘Titanic’ ships.
Another FDC was issued
during 1999 celebrated ‘Irish Commercial Aviation, featuring individual stamps
for ‘Douglas DC3’, ‘Britten Norman Islander’, ‘Boeing 707’, Lockheed
Constellation’, aircraft.
In October 1999 a
Dennis Trident II, ALX400, (99-D-42) arrived in Phibsboro Garage for evaluation,
following on from the August 1999 visits of brand new London Buses (DLA
124/DLA125) red liveried DAF, DB250LF, ALX400 demonstrators.
A front/nearside view
of the new Dennis Trident II, ALX400, (99-D-42) demonstrator, a second
identically specified demonstrator (99-D-41) was also on loan to Dublin Bus at
the time. The Summerhill based ‘Airlink’ liveried, Volvo, ALX400, (AV 116 to AV
130) were delivered the following year (2000) with dual door format and bonded
glazing as on shown in the picture. In 2003 ten single door Dennis Trident II,
ALX400’s were delivered new to Dublin Bus and were fleet allocated the ‘DT’
class.
Donnybrook’s Volvo Olympian RV 327
(97-D-327) in newly applied ‘TV3’ AOA livery, this complimented the ‘TV3 News’
AOA as applied to Phibsboro based RA 248 (95-D-248).
